DESCRIPTION

Elastase is an enzyme normally produced in the pancreas. When the pancreas is diseased such as with insufficiency, pancreatitis or cancer, then levels of the enzyme fall. This new test is a useful diagnostic test for an organ which is difficult to get at and investigate.

A sample collection pot with a spoon, plastic bag, stamped addressed envelope for posting the sample to the laboratory, request form,

INSTRUCTIONS

Take a "cherry size" amount of stool onto the collection spoon and place in the pot. Make sure that your name and date of birth are clearly marked on the label. Check your details are correct on the request form.

Seal the sample pot in the plastic bag and post to the laboratory (The Doctors' Laboratory in London) as soon as possible after collection. Ensure that the request form is enclosed with the sample.
